“The skills I gained from the TMT apprenticeship program have enabled me to be who I am today managing my business,” Hilda recounts.

Having been raised in a family of 6 children with her mother being a widow, Hilda could not finish her secondary education having become pregnant at the age of 16yrs while in form 3.

“After conceiving and delivering my baby, I lost the sponsorship of TMT to complete my school”, she says.

“I did menial work in the village, including laundry, to afford food and clothing for my baby”, she recalls.

Hilda was enrolled in the salon, beauty, and therapy program and upon completing her 6 months' course she proceeded to field attachment where she gained more skills in the field. She is currently managing her own business where she can proudly provide for her baby who is in kindergarten and also support her mother and siblings. She has a vision of expanding her business to also offer training to less fortunate girls.
